Kentucky Owl Dry State is the biggest, boldest, and best they’ve produced yet… and that’s really saying something. The original Kentucky Owl Whiskey was made by Charles Mortimer Dedman in the late 1800s. After every drop of this “Wise Man’s Whiskey” in inventory was, ahem… “confiscated” by federal agents under mysterious circumstances at the start of Prohibition, the C.M. Dedman Distillery faded into history. But just a few years ago his great-great-grandson — Dixon Dedman — revived the brand, creating the Kentucky Owl Bourbons and Ryes as small-batch, super-premium spirit blends. Following last years enthusiastic reception of the Kentucky Owl “Confiscated” release, the good folks at Kentucky Owl Distillery have assembled another EXTREMELY limited edition in a similar vein to mark the 100th anniversary of Prohibition — which came into force in 1920 — transforming the US into a “Dry State.” They have pulled a handful of their best casks and assembled them into a sweet, caramel dram worthy of such an austere event. And it is bottle just below the barrel-proof level at 57.5% ABV.
