100% Chenin Blanc. Lena comes from 35-40-year-old estate vines on limestone as well as some purchased fruit. The grapes are destemmed, pressed and fermented with natural yeasts. The wine is aged in tank on its fine lees before bottling a year after the harvest. Fredrik Filliatreau’s father Paul ripped out most of the original Chenin vines back in 1990 in order to plant more Cabernet Franc. But recently they have planted 2 hectares of Chenin in the village of Breze, 10 kilometers east of Saumur.
